MM Times: Garbage To Garden

Doh Eain continues to breathe new life into Yangon’s squalid alleys.

Doh Eain, a social enterprise which works on the restoration of historical buildings and public spaces in Yangon, opened its third alley garden between 31st Street and Bo Soon Pat Street in downtown Yangon on April 8.

Doh Eain cleared out the rubbish and in its place put trees, space for rollerblading, colourful street art and hung vintage pictures of life in Yangon on the walls.

Daw San Myint doesn’t rollerblade but she does enjoy being able to open her windows and going for a stroll in her new back garden.
